We rob ourselves of life when we forget to live.
- We forget to live when we become stressed and anxious about things we can hardly control. Most of which will be resolved in time with or without much of our involvement.
- We forget to live when we hold grudges, which create an obsessive attachment with another person. This is wasted time and emotional energy.
- We forget to live when we delve in the past too much.
- We forget to live when we only keep an eye on the future.
- We forget to live when we live in fear.
- We forget to live when we put others needs before ours; living someone else’s life.
- We forget to live when we are overly concerned about what others think of us.
- We forget to live when we are stuck in a funk of overwhelming sadness and do nothing to move on: as in seeking help.
- We forget to live when we simply live for weekends.
- We forget to live when we spend our time ‘connected’ and solely rely on social media for communication.
- We forget to live when we spend our time either crossing out days on the calendar or watching the clock tick; eager for whatever it is we are doing to be over.
What living is:
- Enjoyment of the small things we treasure.
- Simply letting go of anxiety, anger, and fear of the unknown.
- Sharing “real” time with loved ones.
- Indulging in our favorite pass-time.
- Sitting quietly and getting lost in thought.
- Walking with no destination.
- Taking a relaxing bath.
- Loving what you do or finding a way to make it more enjoyable.
- Being present in every activity as a type of meditation.
- Awareness that there is no guarantee of a tomorrow.
