FreePass Latino is a free two-week preview of Spanish language movies, shows, and documentaries available on demand from Comcast. You may consider keeping such an offering year round! I will share with you, my reasons why.
As Latinos in the U.S., we are lucky. Years ago there was no way to watch TV in Spanish. Neither for native speakers nor for those who really wanted to learn the language and practice their comprehension skills. Now, years later, we can finally get all the Spanish programming that will ensure not only fun, but for those Latinos who are away from home, for whom it’s a way to feel a bit closer to their roots, their language and also for those seeking becoming bilingual. Comcast brings us all we need to engage in Language learning and also help those who miss their mother tongue in this country.
Last May my Spanish language students were watching a telenovela and when I saw them back in September they came to me and let me know that they had kept watching the series! They loved it! They found it fun, engaging and they got to practice their listening comprehension skills. I was really surprised they enjoyed spending time actually immersing themselves in the language they were learning on their free time!
But Comcast’s Spanish television option is also good to keep Spanish alive in their homes, especially for their children who study mostly in English. It would be a pity for them not to be in touch with their heritage. Being bilingual is now a very important asset. It fosters understanding, open-mindedness and makes a true bicultural individual.
So for those who are learning Spanish, or all those who want to be bilingual and celebrate their heritage I really encourage them to try out Comcast’s FreePass Latino.
From September 26th through October 9th, you’ll be able to binge-watch favorites like “Texas Trocas” – “The Riveras” – “Instructions not included” – “Ash vs. Evil Dead” – “Señora Acero” – “El Señor de los Cielos” and many more. After this period ends, you can upgrade to Comcast’s Latino programming package to have access to this content all year round. Don’t forget to tune in Sept. 26 through Oct. 9!
