A surefire way to respect yourself; Look back at your childhood pictures.

Looking back at the child you were.

Looking back at the child you were.

Some of us often feel less than, shy and with levels of self-esteem that drive us to not only degrade ourselves, but allow others to step all over us, abuse and use us. We long to be liked, and for this reason we may allow what we wouldn’t allow anyone to do to our own child. A surefire way to stop this, is to look back at the pictures of your childhood.

When you go back to those childhood pictures, you will feel moved. You will see yourself through those little eyes and also through the eyes of a protective grownup. Look at those pictures, remember how helpless you were and how back then you could do nothing to change how defenceless and lonely you felt. Because the person you are today, the shy and defenceless one, is the same as the one in the pictures of your childhood.

Defend that child. Don’t allow anyone to step all over him/her. Now, today. That child still lives in you and you can now grow up and start treating that child as you would your own.

Take care of that kid and you will never again allow anyone to hurt that helpless kid. You are grown now and in control of how others treat you.

Love and respect that child and you shall then attract only those who will treat you in kind.
