There is nothing like having your day start with pleasant surprises, and this I have to thank technology for. Those texts and e-mails you get from the people you care about but never expect to hear from regularly.

As the New Year began, getting texts and private thoughtful messages wishing me good tidings for the year ahead, filled my heart with optimism and hope.

A message is not just a message. Sometimes a simple hello bears a lot more weight. Someone thought of you and this is priceless. We all want to be thought of in some small or big way. Someone cared enough to send a text, even once a year, to wish, as in this case, a Happy New Year.

These are great awakenings to a New Year!
